Diabetes Medical Centre of Lions Club of Thane Kopri
Lions International is a Global Humanitarian Service organization, having 50,000 Lions Clubs and 1.4 Million Lions spread over in 210 countries worldwide. Lions Club of Thane Kopri is serving community with Motto “ WE SERVE” since last 38 years with Passion & Dedication.
Lions Clubs International Foundation approved huge Funds for Diabetes Project of Lions Club of Thane Kopri in 2023. With the Cooperation of Lions Club International Foundation, we give FREE DIABETES SERVICES like Random Blood Sugar, Glycosylated Hemoglobin Test / HbA1c Test ; Doctor’s Consultancy to the people in Diabetes Checkup camps. We have conducted 100+ FREE Diabetes checkup Camps within 2 years to reduce the prevalence of Diabetes in the community.
We started our Permanent Project “ Diabetes & Medical Centre” of Lions Club of Thane Kopri at D4/101, Matoshree CHS, Old Mhada colony, Vasant Vihar, Thane West in 2024. We provide various following facilities in a subsidized rate Lions Clubs International Foundation has approved Funds for Diabetes Project in this Centre.
- Free Diabetes Services such as Random Blood Sugar Test, HbA1c Test ( Market price Rs. 600 ) & Diabetes Consultancy & Treatment.
- Dental Services with Dental Care & Dental Hygiene.
- Eye Checkup / Screenings & Vision Support. Cataract Operations in a subsidized rate in association with other Eye Hospitals.
- Pathology & Lab Services – All type of Blood Tests.
- ECG checking & Consultation.
- General Physician Consultation ( OPD ) .

Specialist doctors and diabetologists provide consultation, counseling, and treatment plans tailored to patients’ needs.
Eye Check-up & Cataract Operations
Early detection of diabetic retinopathy and other eye diseases, along with support for cataract operations.
Pathology – All Blood Tests
Comprehensive blood investigations available under one roof at reduced costs.
OPD (General Consultancy)
Walk-in consultations with medical professionals for regular health concerns.

Essential heart check-up facility to monitor risks associated with diabetes and cardiovascular health.

A deep dive into our comprehensive effort to combat diabetes in the Thane district, made possible by the LCIF Diabetes Grant.
The Challenge & Our Response
Recognizing the growing challenge of diabetes, We have launched a diabetes care project dedicated to early detection, awareness, and providing a pathway to care. Our goal is to screen at-risk populations and educate the public to reduce long-term health complications.
Our screening camps are the cornerstone of this initiative, bringing vital health checks directly to the people at railway stations, RTO offices, police stations, Banks and residential communities.

Our inaugural camp at the bustling Thane Railway Station was a massive success, screening over 200 commuters. This high-traffic location allowed us to reach a diverse cross-section of the population.

How Our Camps Work: A Four-Step Process
Community Outreach
We identify high-risk areas and venue to promote the upcoming free screening camp.
On-Site Screening
Our team of volunteers and medical staff conduct RBS, BP, and HbA1c tests for all attendees.
Data & Diagnosis
Results are recorded, and individuals with high readings of HbA1c tests send in the lab.
Referral & Follow-Up
We provide counseling and refer high-risk individuals to our health centre for continued care and treatment.
Leveraging Technology for Health
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our diagnostics, we invest in modern medical equipment. As outlined in our LCIF Grant, our Diabetes Care Centre is equipped with advanced tools like automated lab analyzer HbA1c machine and digital data management systems, allowing us to provide high-quality care and track patient outcomes effectively.
Looking Ahead: Our Future Goals
Building on our success, we have ambitious plans for the future. Our primary goal is to expand the reach and depth of our Diabetes Care Project and other initiatives.
Expand Screening: Double the number of screening camps by 2026, reaching more remote villages.
Enhance Education: Launch a district-wide diabetes awareness campaign in colleges and community centers.
Improve Care Pathways: Strengthen partnerships with local clinics to ensure seamless long-term care for diagnosed patients.
